It’s been almost two weeks since we first reported on Phillip Phillips’ kidney problems and the numerous surgeries that he underwent while competing on “American Idol.” He finally underwent the “big one” yesterday, a six and a half hour operation to remove his giant kidney stones and have kidney reconstructive surgery.
Phillips captured America’s heart as he performed each week on “American Idol,” where he always scored favorably with the judges as well. Now he’s captured headlines for an entirely different reason. He was scheduled to undergo this surgery last week, but was delayed because of a serious sinus infection and the fact that he was running a fever.

The “American Idol” Tour kicks off in Detroit on July 6th, 2012. Let’s hope Phillips can recover in time to join the rest of the top 10 on their tour. Feel free to leave your thoughts and well wishes in the comments below.
