Winter Haze were born in 2003 in Parma, from the gathering of Lorenzo, Giorgia, Raffaele e Stefano, coming from different musical experiences; this encounter gave birth to the first line-up of Winter Haze, starting to write original songs. Different drummers played in a band, but during 2004 they found a capable member in Davide Colombo. With this line-up, Winter Haze began their live activity. In the first months of 2005, the first version of the song "White Witch", recorded in September 2004, was included in OndeRoad's compilation. With the song "White Witch", Winter Haze won the first prize in the contest for emerging bands "Vicolo Rock" (December 2004) for best lyrics and original music. In December, the band recorded the first demo, "Innocent Dream", released in August 2005 and including four original tracks: "Innocent Dream", "White Witch", "From Here to Eternity" and "Neverland". During the year 2005, the band played many live concerts, fulfilling to be noticed by musical insiders and by the public. At the end of July 2005, Davide Colombo left the band and the talented Matteo Rossi joined the band replacing him. Matteo had played in many bands from the metal and progressive italian scene, both as a drummer and keyboard player. In August 2006, Winter Haze announced their entrance in studios to record their first full length album, "The Storm Within". At the same time, they kept on their live activity: the band played many gigs, also opening concerts for bands such as Domine, After Forever, Paul Di Anno. "The Storm Within" album was release in February 2009, achieving a fair success both in Italy and in foreign Coutries. In December 2009 Raffaele Albanese (guitar player and singer) left the band to pursue the activity with his solo projects. After Raffaele's departure the four remaining members didn't lose the faith in Winter Haze project and after some auditions, found a great guitar player in Paolo Menozzi. New energy and cool sound were achieved with the joining of the new guitar player. The band also revised male vocals' section: now Stefano Bottarelli (growl) and Matteo Rossi (clean) deal with the vocal parts that were performed by Raffaele. In November of 2010 Winter Haze performed a couple of gigs in the Nederlands, opening for ReVamp, the new band of Floor Jansen (ex After Forever). Winter Haze has just announced that Paolo Menozzi has been forced to leave the band following the appointments with Injury, the band in which he's been playing for long. The band has been proud and thrilled to introduce the new guitarist, Gianluca De Lillo, a young musician from Parma who distinguished himself as an amazing guitar player in many bands of the city. During last month the new line up has worked on new songs (some of which had been introduced in November during the Dutch shows), and it will enter the recording studios (Wanna Rock Studio in Livorno) at the end of April, to record a promotional EP, in which new ideas and new sonorities will be introduced. With "The Storm within", debut album published in Spring 2009, despite the clear recall to north-european metal, Winter Haze created their own style, a successful melting-pot between symphonic metal, gothic, power, with a progressive accent. Thanks to this well-structured mixture, the band can brilliantly deal with lively power songs such as "Eyes to the dawn", or the classic metal-ballad "From here to eternity", the more progressive track "Unme" or the most gothic and dark "Deconstruction of mind". All the 10 tracks of their album have been written and composed with the cooperation of all the 5 elements of the band, giving place to all the different influences coming from each member's musical background. I Winter Haze nascono nel 2003 a Parma, dall'incontro di Lorenzo, Giorgia, Raffaele e Stefano, provenienti da differenti esperienze musicali; il loro incontro diede vita alla prima line up dei Winter Haze, iniziando a lavorare su materiale originale. Agli esordi, differenti batteristi si sono avvicendati in seno alla band, ma nel corso del 2004 i Winter Haze hanno trovato in Davide Colombo un valido membro in pianta stabile. Con questa line up la band ha iniziato la propria attività live. Nel corso dei primi mesi del 2005 la prima versione della canzone "White Witch", registrata in Settembre 2004, è stata inclusa nella compilation OndeRoad; con "White Witch" i Winter Haze si aggiudicano il primo premio nell'ambito del concorso per band emergenti "Vicolo Rock" (Dicembre 2004), come miglior testo e musica originale. Nel corso di Dicembre 2004 la band registra il primo demo, "Innocent Dream", che vede le stampe in Agosto 2005 e contiene quattro pezzi originali: "Innocent Dream", "White Witch", "From Here to Eternity" e "Neverland". Nel corso del 2005 la band si esibisce in numerosi concerti live, riuscendo a farsi notare dagli addetti ai lavori e dal pubblico. Alla fine di Luglio 2005 Davide Colombo lascia la band e viene sostituito da Matteo Rossi, il quale ha collaborato con diversi gruppi della scena metal e progressive italiana, sia come batterista che come tastierista. Nell'Agosto del 2006 i Winter Haze annunciano l'ingresso in studio per la registrazione del loro primo full lenght per l'etichetta discografica inglese UK Division, intitolato "The Storm Within", contenente 10 brani originali. Parallelamente, prosegue l'attività live in tutta Italia, che annovera esibizioni di supporto a gruppi del calibro di Domine, After Forever e Paul Di Anno (ex Iron Maiden). L'album "The Storm Within" viene pubblicato nel Febbraio 2009, ottenendo un discreto successo sia in Italia che all'estero. Nel Dicembre del 2009 il chitarrista Raffaele Albanese decide di lasciare la band per concentrarsi sull'attività con i suoi progetti solisti. Dopo alcune audizioni, la band trova un nuovo valido chitarrista in Paolo Menozzi (Injury), chitarrista reggiano con all'attivo diverse collaborazioni con gruppi metal. Vengono riviste anche le parti vocali maschili, con Stefano (growl) e Matteo (clean) ad occuparsi delle parti vocali. Nel Novembre del 2010 i Winter Haze debuttano all'estero, in Olanda, aprendo due concerti per i Revamp, nuova band di Floor Jansen (ex After Forever). I Winter Haze hanno da poco annunciato che Paolo Menozzi è stato costretto a lasciare la band a seguito dei numerosi impegni con gli Injury, ed hanno annunciato l'ingresso come nuovo chitarrista di Gianluca De Lillo, giovane e talentuoso musicista di parma, che si è distinto in diverse band della città. Nell'ultimo mese la nuova formazione ha lavorato alla stesura di nuovi brani (alcuni presentati in anteprima a Novembre 2010 in occasione delle date olandesi), ed entrerà in studio di registrazione (Wanna Rock Studio di Livorno) a fine Aprile, per registrare un EP promozionale, in cui presenteranno nuove idee e nuove sonorità. Con «The Storm Within», album d'esordio uscito nella primavera del 2009, i Winter Haze, nonostante i forti richiami al metal di stampo nord europeo, riescono a creare un proprio genere, riuscito mix di metal sinfonico, gothic e power con un accento di progressive. E' proprio questo insieme, che li porta ad affrontare in modo brillante sia brani spiccatamente power come "Eyes to the Dawn" sia la classica metal ballad "From here to etrernity", la più progressive "Unme" e la più gothic e oscura "Decontruction of Mind". I dieci brani contenuti nell'album sono stati composti in collaborazione da tutti i membri del gruppo dando spazio alle diverse influenze derivanti dai background di ciascun elemento.
