I had the pleasure of recently participating in the 32nd annual jazz festival at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. I also was very lucky to get a great review from the timesunion.com reporter, Greg Haymes. Obrigada Greg!!!!
"....Trumpeter Mark Morganelli and his band the Jazz Forum Brazil Project dedicated their set to the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim. Bolstered by guitarist John Hart, the band dished up delicious instrumentals, including Jobim's signature "Desafinado," and delved deeper into his songbag with Brazilian vocalist Monika Oliveira, who rendered perhaps the most beautiful song of the day, "Dindi."....
"...Perhaps no programmer has done more to serve up challenging fare for immigrant communities than the trumpeter and impresario Mark Morganelli. Now in the eighth year of a 50-concert summer series throughout Westchester, Mr. Morganelli said the communities for which he has booked performers have ranged from Asians in Hartsdale, for whom he presented the Japanese trumpeter Shunzo Ohno last year, to Brazilians in Mount Vernon, where he presented the singer Monika Oliveira in July. Ms. Oliveira had a crowd of nearly 700 cheering, many in Portuguese, at City Hall Plaza, he said."
I am so proud of the Elections in United States. Barack Obama is indeed a change much needed. Thank you all for doing the right thing. Too bad I was not there to vote!!!! :(
