“Una persona dotata di senso del ritmo che entri in una fabbrica può percepire il rumore di una macchina come una composizione : estendendo il concetto fino ad estendere la luce, il comportamento, fattori climatici e qualsiasi altra cosa (sia che si tratti di un ritmo udibile che percepibile, cioè come un colore che cambia rispetto al momento o alla stagione)tutto può esere consumato come musica. Se può essere concepito come musica e presentato a un pubblico in modo tale che questo lo possa percepire come musica (…) Quando qualcuno scrive un brano musicale, quello che lui o lei mette per iscritto è PIU’ O MENO L’EQUIVALENTE DI UNA RICETTA, nel senso che LA RICETTA NON E’ IL CIBO MA SOLO LE ISTRUZIONI PER LA PREPARAZIONE DEL CIBO; e a meno che voi siate veramente bizzarri, non mangiate certo la ricetta. Se io scrivo qualcosa su un pezzo di carta, non posso realmente ASCOLTARLO. Potrò avere delle visioni di quello che i simboli sulla pagina stanno a SIGNIFICARE e immaginarmi come può venire eseguito un certo brano musicale ma pur sempre si tratta di UNA SENSAZIONE NON TRASFERIBILE : NON Può ESSERE CONDIVISA O TRASMESSA. Sino al momento in cui la ricetta non viene trasformatain MOLECOLE D’ARIA AGITATE la cosa non è, in termini corretti, un’ esperienza musicale. La musica, quando viene eseguita, è un tipo di scultura. L’aria nello spazio della rappresentazione SCOLPITA DENTRO QUALCOSA : questa scultura-molecolare-nel-tempoviene quindi osservata dalle orecchie degli spettatori o da un microfono. IL SUONO è un dato decodificato dall’orecchio. Le cose che CREANO SUONO sono cose in grado di creare delle PERTURBAZIONI. Tali perturbazioni modificano (scolpiscono) il materiale grezzo (l’aria statica della stanza, il suo modo di essere inerte prima che i musicisti inizino a romperle i coglioni). Se quindi voi DI PROPOSITO generate perturbazioni atmosferiche (forme d’aria), ecco che state componendo. Un compositore è quel tipo di persona che se ne va in giro imponendo la propria volontà a ignare molecole d’aria, spesso assistito nel suo agire da ignari musicisti. Volete fare i compositori? Non è neanche necessario che siate capaci di di mettere per iscritto la roba, perché tanto sarebbe solo la ricetta, ricordate? Se riuscite a pensare un progetto, potete anche eseguire un progetto : si tratta in fondo di un mucchietto di molecole d’aria, chi vi controlla?”

You want to be a composer? you don't even need to write music, because it's only the recipe, remember? if you can imagine a project. you can do a project. it's only a bunch of air molecules, who can controll you?'
