Filipe Michael

Bio:

From an early age, Filipe Michael Mora developed and demonstrated a strong passion for music and all its forms. Born into a musical family in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1989, Filipe was destined to follow the footsteps of his mother who was a classically trained pianist and musician. At the tender age of seven, his parents presented him with his very first guitar. Soon there after, with the help of his mother, Filipe began learning basic chord structures and progressions. This early instruction, along with a thirst to glorify God, inspired Filipe to be part of the music ministry in his local church. He has been quoted saying that the best music school he ever attended was in his church. There he developed a very strong ear, good improvisation skills, and he was also able to learn how to play the bass guitar, drums, and piano. At the age of fifteen, his family relocated to the United States, where Filipe began his formal musical training. He had the opportunity to study Jazz and Music Theory in his local high school and also the privilege to work with renowned New York Jazz guitarist Paul Mayers. He studied privately with Mayers along with other teachers in the New York/New Jersey area. In his high school senior year, Filipe realized that his passion for music was insatiable. Music was going to be what he wanted to do for the rest of his life. He applied to Berklee College of Music where he was warmly welcomed and accepted. He began his collegiate training in the spring of 2008. Filipe is currently working torwards a degree in Music Synthesis and serves as a guitar principle at Berklee College of music. He also plays lead guitar for the up and coming Latino Christian band “SALIDA 7,” who are very active both in the local Hispanic Christian scene as well as in the United States and overseas. Along with all the responsibilities of both college and band, Filipe founded his own production company called FM7 Productions.
