The group was formed in 1988 in Genoa, comprised of Alessandro Cavatorti, guitar, Paolo Raciti, piano and keyboard, Edmondo Romano, flute and sax, Marco Forella, bass, Martino Murtas, drums, and Alessandro Serri, vocals and guitar. In this six-person formation, the group performed in festivals and concerts, offering live performances of pieces that would become the nucleus of its 1991 album: “Glares of Mind”, “In the Rising Mist”, “The Way Home” and the title-track, “Rings of Earthly Light” were all composed and arranged during this period. In 1990, Alessandro Cavatorti left the group, but joined it in the studio to record the guitar part in "Glares of Mind". That same year, the group released “Pushing Together”, a demo that already contained the seeds of R.O.E.L. and included a number of pieces from the album. In 1991, Rings of Earthly Light finally appeared, bringing the group to the attention of sector press throughout the world in Europe, the United States, Brazil, Korea and Japan. Eris Pluvia performed live throughout Italy, including Milan, Cuneo, Terni and Savona, as well as in Paris, France. The band performed in a number of Progressive Festivals alongside such legendary groups as Caravan. Alessandro Serri left the group in 1992 and was replaced by Alessandro Conti (vocals) and Mauro Montobbio (guitar); shortly after, Edmondo Romano also left the group. With a new guitarist, Davide Marrari, Eris Pluvia continued its live performances, including taking part in 1994 in the Rino Gaetano awards, where the group came in second in the national competition with its song, “Icaro”. From that point on, they stopped performing live, dedicating themselves, under another name, to the composition of soundtracks and delving into experimental activity parallel to that of the group. In 2001 they created “Mister Sound”, a recording studio in which young, local bands could receive support through instruction on a number of instruments, artistic consulting and musical arrangements. In 2005, feeling the need to generate new ideas, Eris Pluvia contacted guitarist Matteo Noli and drummer Daviano Rotella with whom the band began to work on a new album. In 2010 has been released Third Eye Light, a concept comprised of nine pieces that create a single guiding thread throughout the album. Featured on the disk will be the splendid guitar of friend Max Martorana, the sweet flute of Roberta Piras and the warm voice of Diana Dallera. The sleeve is a beautiful painting of the original and talented artist Anita Chieppa, while the graphic of the booklet has been prepared with skill and elegance by the graphic designer Enrico Pierini. ____________________________________________________________________________ Il gruppo si forma nel 1988 a Genova, ed è formato da Alessandro Cavatorti, chitarra, Paolo Raciti, piano e tastiere, Edmondo Romano, flauto e sax, Marco Forella, basso, Martino Murtas, batteria, e Alessandro Serri, voce e chitarra. Con questa formazione a sei elementi, il gruppo si esibisce in festivals e concerti, presentando nei live diversi brani che formeranno il nucleo centrale del disco del 1991: Glares of Mind, In the rising mist, The way home e la title-track Rings of earthly light vengono composte ed arrangiate proprio in questo periodo. Nel 1990 Alessandro Cavatorti lascia il gruppo; tornerà in sala d’incisione con il gruppo per registrare la chitarra di Glares of mind. Nello stesso anno, il gruppo fa uscire “Pushing together”, un demo che è già una piccola promessa di R.O.E.L. e contiene alcuni brani del disco. Nel 1991 esce finalmente Rings of earthly light, che consacra il gruppo all’attenzione della stampa specializzata di mezzo mondo: Europa, Stati Uniti, Brasile, Corea e Giappone. Gli Eris Pluvia si esibiscono dal vivo in diverse località d’Italia, da Milano a Cuneo, da Terni a Savona, ed in Francia, a Parigi; in alcune occasioni, la band suona in diversi Festival Progressive fianco a fianco con alcuni mostri sacri come i Caravan. Nel 1992 Alessandro Serri abbandona il gruppo, sostituito da Alessandro Conti, voce, e Mauro Montobbio, chitarra; di lì a poco, anche Edmondo Romano lascia il gruppo. Con un nuovo chitarrista, Davide Marrari, gli Eris Pluvia proseguono l’attività live, partecipando nel 1994, tra l’altro, al premio “Rino Gaetano” ove il gruppo si posiziona secondo assoluto al concorso nazionale con la canzone Icaro. Da quel momento in poi, i musicisti sospendono le esibizioni live dedicandosi, con altro nome, alla composizione di colonne sonore e alla ricerca di percorsi sperimentali paralleli all’attività di gruppo. Nel 2001 creano "Mister Sound", studio di registrazione dove le band emergenti a livello locale vengono supportate nella realizzazione dei propri lavori, mediante l'insegnamento di diversi strumenti, la consulenza artistica e la realizzazione di arrangiamenti. Nel 2005, sentendo la necessità di realizzare alcune nuove idee, gli Eris Pluvia contattano il chitarrista Matteo Noli ed il batterista Daviano Rotella con i quali cominciano a lavorare per un nuovo album della band. Nel 2010 è uscito Third Eye Light, concept composto da nove brani, descrizione di un unico filo rosso che percorre l’album. Nel disco hanno suonato Roberta Piras, flauto, Max Martorana, chitarra classica, e Diana Dallera, voce. Per quel che riguarda il booklet il dipinto in copertina è opera della originale e bravissima pittrice Anita Chieppa, mentre la parte grafica del libretto è curata con maestria ed eleganza dal grafico Enrico Pierini
