Punk with Bryne's Blog

  • Myspace Etiquette (or how to be a great friend)

Hey again folks. Hope you're enjoying reading my stream and checking out the content I share every weekday. There are so many of you here that things have already gotten a little crazy, so I thought I'd post a quick blog to sort of remind everyone why I'm here, why you're here and most importantly, what constitutes being a good member of my community:

--There really is no need to leave me a comment along the lines of "Thanks for the add" or "Who are you?" or "Do I know you?," etc. Really, there isn't. For those of you still unsure of what's happening here, check out my previous blog post. As for everyone thanking me for adding them, this is for everyone that has added me or will ever add me, for all time: YOU'RE WELCOME. There. Now let's be done with it.

--Speaking of the superfluous comments, if you really, really wanna thank me for adding you, please do so at the comments section on my actual page, not on my photos and most importantly, not on the links I post throughout the weekday as part of my stream. The whole idea of these stream links is to engage the audience and initiate a conversation, and that's difficult to do when we (meaning I and the other users) have to wade through a bunch of these comments. I highly encourage all of you to comment on my stream, but please stay on-topic when you do.

--And please, do not—I repeat, DO NOT—spam any of my comments sections. Any links left in my comments sections will be deleted. This page is not for self-promotion; it's for conversation. Please respect this.

If you have any other questions, comments or concerns, don't hesitate to comment on this blog post. Thanks for reading.

  • Hello to all my new friends!

(I originally posted this as a bulletin, but a blog is more permanent and more people will see it. I'm so smart!)

A lot of you are hitting me with two questions:

    1) Do I know you?/Have we met?

    2) Who ARE you, anyway?

Since I'll unfortunately never have time to respond to all of your questions individually, lemme answer them here:

    1) Probably not!

    2) My name is Bryne, and I'm the Punk curator for Myspace. Curators, whom you may have noticed have an increased presence on Myspace, are here to share links and media with a specific audience, and actively engage with our friends to create a fun, vibrant community. Every weekday, I'll post about ten links throughout the day of stories, interviews, videos and other media directly related to punk rock and its subgenres. The best way to be a part of the community is to check out the stream on my page Monday through Friday and comment on my links. Don't be afraid to share your opinions! It'll be fun, I promise, and I'll be around to help get the conversation going.
To give you some background on my credentials, I'm a news editor over at Punknews.org and also occasionally freelance for Alternative Press Magazine. I love punk rock, I love talking about punk rock and most of all, I'm stoked to share great content with all of you every weekday.

That's essentially it. I look forward to hearing all of your opinions and talking with you every weekday. Thanks for being my friend!

    -Bryne

    PS - Yes, I'm a real person.
