Biografia
..**THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL SITE BUT A TRIBUTE TO MR BRUCE WELCH**...... .. .. ........ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ........................................ Bruce Cripps was born November 2nd 1941. He grew up in Newcastle and had a bad childhood. He was raised by his aunt, because of his mother early death. Bruce and a school friend named Brian Robson Rankin (better known as Hank Marvin) played in a group called The Railroaders. Bruce and Hank went to London in 1957 to try their luck in music business. They failed the first year, but got luck when they met Cliff Richard on 2 I's coffee bar in London. In the early days of fame, Bruce wrote a lot of hits for both Cliff Richard, and The Shadows. Cliff's "Please don't Teaste", "Don't Talk to Him" and "Summer Holliday", and The Shadows' "Foot Tapper", Theme For Young Lovers" and "FBI", to mention a few, are all written with Bruce. Many guitarists at that time had Hank Marvin as their idol, but after releasing The Savage in 1961, Bruce also got a lot of fans, after his impressing fast right hand. He often used acoustic guitar on the recordings, but always electric guitar on stage, because of the Shadows walk. Bruce was also the lead singer of The Shadows, and did some great harmonics with both Hank Marvin, and also when they backed Cliff Richard. After some up and down periods, Bruce left The Shadows in the late 60's. Some years later he wrote and produced recordsfor both Cliff Richard, and Olivia Newton John, who was his girlfriend at the time. He joined Hank Marvin and John Farrar in a new vocal group, but they got back to The Shadows in 1975. Bruce's only record was "Please Mr Please", released in 1974. Bruce was also the lead singer on "Let Me Be The One" in the Eurovision Songcontest 1975. The Shadows made big success after their release of the 20 Golden greats in 1977, and was popular all the time to the split-up in 1990. The Shadows reformed in 2004 and 2005 for a Final UK and European Tour. Rumours says that there will be a 50th anniversary show with Cliff Richard in 2008, but nothing is to be confirmed yet. In the late 90's Bruce did many appearances with other Shadows tribute bands on festivals over all the Europe and Canada. He also arrange yearly Shadowmania on Frimley in UK. He also has his own band "Bruce Welch's Shadows" which is probably one of the best live instrumental bands today. His band has toured UK, Canada, Germany and Norway the last years. Bruce Welch is also often guest on Shadows conventions in Europe or guest artist. In 2004 he was honoured by the Queen with Order of The Brittish Empire (OBE) .... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. **THIS IS NOT AN OFFICIAL SITE BUT A TRIBUTE TO MR BRUCE WELCH** -
