The BrickLane project came to life in June 2009 with the precise aim of creating a new British pop/rock wave in the music scene of Genova. The five guys, who had previous experiences in some bands of different genres (such as Tuamadre, Craven Road, Sex Mode, Dangerlies), started to play together after some meetings both at the Genoese “Berio” library and at the rehearsals room. The original repertory included only covers of the coolest songs written by British bands like Oasis, Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Supergrass, The Beatles, Kaiser Chiefs, The Jam and any other stuff coming from the Isles. However, the life of BrickLane as a cover band had soon to face the creativity of the two main composers of the group, Francesco Calore and Matteo Milazzi.
Despite missing Milazzi, a.k.a. Mela (Apple), who moved to Iceland for a 4 months study period, and later Calore, settled in Finland for the same reason, BrickLane gave birth to seven brand new tracks, which are included in their first EP, “Same Chords ‘til 4 a.m.”, recorded at Naim Abid’s "STUDIO 9" in Genova and released on 30th April 2011.
While keeping a common thread, the EP is a mixture of various sounds reflecting the different musical backgrounds of each member, from the powerful rock of “Apple Juice” and “And I Know” to the ironic punk/rock n’ roll of “Mr. Redfox”, passing through the classic Britpop vibes of “Getting Born Again”, the melodic pop songs “Road to Nowhereland” and “Stay” and the touching, romantic ballad “Orange Amber”.
BrickLane, reunited since March 2011 and fresh from the presentation of the new EP, are currently working on brand new tracks, waiting for new concert dates.

I BrickLane nascono nel giugno 2009 con un obiettivo iniziale chiaro e definito: colmare il vuoto di british-pop/rock del quale soffre la scena musicale genovese. I cinque ragazzi, con precedenti esperienze in band eterogenee (Tuamadre, Craven Road, Sex Mode, Dangerlies solo per fare alcuni nomi), iniziano a suonare assieme dopo i primi incontri avvenuti tra la biblioteca Berio e la sala prove. Inizialmente sono le covers a troneggiare in repertorio, con i pezzi più cool presi in prestito dai vari Oasis, Blur, Arctic Monkeys, Supergrass, The Beatles, Kaiser Chiefs, The Jam e qualsiasi cosa venga sfornato Oltremanica. La prima fase di vita del gruppo è quindi dedicata all’attività di cover band che dopo pochi mesi deve però fare i conti con la creatività di Francesco Calore e Matteo Milazzi, i due “compositori” del gruppo.
Nonostante Milazzi, detto “Mela”, debba trascorrere un periodo di studi in Islanda, e a Calore tocchi la stessa sorte qualche mese dopo, in Finlandia, i BrickLane danno la luce a sette pezzi inediti, raccolti nell’EP “Same Chords 'til 4 a.m.”, registrato nello STUDIO 9 di Naim Abid a Genova.
Il disco, pur mantenendo un filo condutture unitario, è un insieme di sonorità differenti che nascono dai background musicali dei singoli membri: si passa dal rock deciso di "Apple Juice" e "And I Know" al punk/rock’n’roll dell’ironica "Mr. Redfox", attraverso la mai esaurita vena british di "Getting Born Again", per il pop più classico e melodico di "Road To Nowhereland" e "Stay" o della emozionante e romantica ballad "Orange Amber".
Attualmente la band, tornata al completo da Marzo 2011 e fresca di presentazione del nuovo EP, è già al lavoro su nuovi pezzi, in attesa di nuove date.
