The all-wise Creator thought it productive of good for man's fortune to be interspersed with misfortune. He knew that what is called misfurtune can actually be fortune, blessings in disguise. It can subdue us, prompt self-inspection, open our eyes to what we had not seen before, generate thankfulness, reshuffle priorities, divert efforts, renew determination, and stimulate sympathy for the person who is down. These are possible compensations.



The flower that has been crushed has a sweeter aroma than the protected one. We must live through the bleakness of winter to really appreciate the invigoration of spring.
