    Andrew Chubb (born in Sydney, Australia, 1975) currently is a Newcastle based pianist, composer, conductor, teacher and lecturer. Over the past decade, Andrew has given numerous recitals that have deliberately promoted the music of other contemporary composers - in some cases relatively or completely unknown works and composers to Australian audiences. By the year 2006, he was the first and only Australian pianist who had publicly performed the main cycle of the solo piano works by Philip Glass. These highly successful concerts were given at the Newcastle Conservatorium Concert Hall in 2002, 2003, 2006, the Newcastle City Hall and the Brisbane Conservatorium of Music in 2007, and Saint Mary's University, Halifax, Canada in 2008. Also in 2007 he gave the Australian premiere of 'The Book of Sounds', a beautiful and intricate large-scale 75-min solo piano work by the late German composer, Hans Otte. Since 2004, Andrew has had works published by Wirripang Pty Ltd. Performances of his compositions have extended beyond Australia to other countries including Canada and parts of Europe. In 2012, he plans to give recitals in Sydney, New York and in parts of Eastern Canada. After composing 'Motion One' in 1998, Andrew Chubb has written a number of works – both concert works and educational music. His concert compositions generally reflect the minimalist movement with definite influences from Arvo Pärt, Steve Reich and to a lesser extent, Philip Glass. Pärt's influence is particularly significant in 'Meditation at Bar Beach', a solo piano work composed in 2007. This particular piece also exists as collaboration with Australian photographer, Allan Chawner. 'Bar Beach…...Beyond the Sea' – is a multi media work featuring hundreds of images of Bar Beach taken over many years and the piano work 'Meditation at Bar Beach'. Andrew Chubb toured Canada in 2008 with Allan Chawner performing this work live as well in the instillation pre-recorded version. Since 1999 Andrew Chubb has been a teacher and at one stage, a lecturer at the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music, University of Newcastle. He has taught in a variety of areas including musicology, orchestration and harmony/aural subjects along with one-on-one piano and viola tuition. Andrew Chubb also has taught at the Upper Hunter Conservatorium since 2001 and operates his own private studio from his home in Newcastle. Through Andrew Chubb's teaching, many students of various levels have achieved considerable success in developing important musical, technical and 'thinking' skills associated with a deep understanding and passion for classical music of all genres. Many of his students have been highly successful in competitions and eisteddfods throughout Sydney and NSW. Currently three of his former students are studying tertiary level music at Monash University, Brisbane and Sydney Conservatorium of Music. .. .. .. ..
