Bio:

Mario Formisano, alias 4MX, bass guitarist of the band “Almamegretta”, embarked on a music career influenced by musicians and bands like Jimi Hendrix, Area, Led Zeppelin, Weather Report, Return to forever, Bob Marley and Davis, deeply interested, at the same time, in classical music, studied at the Conservatory of Music in Naples. His first instrument and the one which better explains his music is the electric bass guitar better called “Pulsation” as it produces “a hypnotizing and embracing Dub sound” as we can read in some Newspaper’s articles. He also plays the piano, and the trombone which has led him to appreciate jazz music and musicians like J.J Johnson, K. Winding and F. Rosolino. This mixture of different music influences has allowed him to develop a very original and personal music style based, above all, on the “Groove”. He is in the Almamegretta’s family producing "Vulgus"; "Dubfellas" –entirely based on dub music- ; "Sciuoglie ‘e Cane"; "Sciuoglie ‘e Cane Live" and the previous "Sanacore" and "Indubb". Since 1994 he has been going on the following tours with Almamegretta group: "Animamigrante", "Sanacore", "Indubb", "Sciuoglie ‘e Cane", "Dubfellas" and the new "Vulgus Tour". In 1995 he took part in the concert organized at the port of Naples. He collaborated with Alan Wurtzburger on the production of his work “Spingole” (1997) and with the Ethno-dub group of Darmadar on their live concert. His last solo production is “Sunrise Celebration” that follows the previous job: 4mx “Here or Anywhere in the World” (1999). Producer and Composer, he has realized all the arrangements of his works. Specializing in electronic music and being fascinated by the opportunities of experimentation it offers.
